The Man Who Kept a Dragon for A Pet an allegorical tale
The Man Who Kept a Dragon for a Pet is an allegorical tale created to help families navigating the chaotic path related to addiction, alcoholism and abuse. Offering insight and hope, this powerfully illustrated book is a valuable tool for individuals and mental health professionals. More information and a blog are available at www.pet-dragon.com.
I read The Man Who Kept a Dragon for a Pet through twice in one sitting. Despite treating the physical ills of many alcoholics and their families over the years, I was truly disturbed to realize as I read it, how little I had understood of their struggles and heartaches.
This should be a “must read,” not only for those directly involved, but also for the professionals who care for them. It is a deeply troubling, but ultimately upbeat tale. Presented in wonderfully apt pictures and words that offer both guidance and understanding, it is appropriate for readers from adolescent to elderly. My congratulations to the author for the insight and talent with which she treated this very difficult subject.
